No. This ride is built for first-timers. We start on the ground, show you how to steer and stop, and one of us rides with you the whole way.
Ready-to-ride is about an hour door to door. Groom-and-tack-it-yourself is about 90 minutes. Pony walks are 15 minutes. Plan on being here 15 minutes before your time either way.
Same ride, same horse, same guide. At $80 your horse is groomed and saddled when you pull in — you're on in ten minutes. At $65 you catch, brush, and tack up your own horse with us coaching you through it, which adds about half an hour and is the better deal if you actually want to learn horses. Everybody in your group picks the same option.

Ages 6 and 7 ride their own horse on a lead line held by our guide, walk only — so a ride with a little one moves at the little one's pace. Ages 8 and up ride independently. A parent or guardian stays on the property either way, and a parent is welcome to ride along as one of the 4.
Ages 2–5 get the pony walk: 15 minutes on Paige in the arena, helmet on, our guide at the head and you walking beside with a hand on them. $25, book it the same way. What we won't do is put a small child in a carrier or double on a horse on the trail — no insurance covers it and a fall is unsurvivable for the kid. Please don't ask us to make an exception; we'll say no as kindly as we can.
230 lb. That's the horse's comfort, not a judgment. If you're near it, call and we'll match you to the right horse or tell you straight.
Long pants and boots with a heel (a cowboy boot, a paddock boot, even a hiking boot with a heel). Helmets are on us. Leave the flip-flops in the car.
On our farm — fields, hay roads, tree lines. Real ground, not an arena loop. It's a working farm, so expect cows across the fence and a dog or two.
Yes — two ways. Guided, $50 per rider: one of us rides along and shows you the ground, about an hour. On your own, $40 per horse: experienced riders and trail-broke horses only, a two-hour window on the marked fields and hay roads, check in and out at the barn by text. Either way: text a photo of a current negative Coggins to (423) 607-5656 before you haul, arrive 30 minutes early to unload and tack, helmets on everybody, dogs stay in the truck. A horse that won't load, unload, or stand quietly doesn't go out and there's no refund — we'd rather have that conversation in the parking lot than on the trail.
Yes. Private, one hour, one-on-one with Meg — $60, or $50 if you board with us. The hour includes catching, grooming, and tacking up your horse, because that's half of horsemanship. $200 for four private lessons ($50 each, save $40). Buy it here using the same email and phone you'll book with. Then book each lesson on our booking page whenever you want — Square sees the pack on your account and charges $0. Good for 6 months, one rider, no refunds on unused lessons. A no-show or under-24-hour cancel burns one lesson.

We ride in most of it. Lightning, ice, or a heat index over 100 and we'll text you by 8 AM to reschedule at no charge.
Move your ride with 24 hours' notice through your booking confirmation. Inside 24 hours, or a no-show, is charged in full — those horses were saddled for you.

Every person who enters Gracewood Acres signs this once a year. Each adult signs their own; a parent or guardian signs for each child under 18. Read it; it means what it says. One form per person — hit "sign another" at the end for the next rider, then confirm everyone on the form Square emails you after you book.
1. Inherent risks. I understand that horses are large, unpredictable animals and that equine activities — handling, grooming, leading, riding, being near horses, and being on a working farm — carry inherent risks including but not limited to a horse's propensity to kick, bite, buck, rear, bolt, fall, or react to sound, movement, people, or other animals; uneven ground, weather, fencing, equipment, and other participants. These risks can cause serious injury or death.
2. Assumption of risk. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, known and unknown, for myself and any minor I sign for.
3. Release. To the fullest extent permitted by Tennessee law, I release, waive, and agree not to sue Gracewood Acres LLC, its owners, family, employees, volunteers, horses, and property owners ("Gracewood") from any claim for injury, death, or property damage arising from equine activities or presence on the property, including claims of ordinary negligence. This does not release gross negligence or willful misconduct.
4. Indemnity. I will indemnify and hold Gracewood harmless from claims brought by me, my minor, or on our behalf, including attorney's fees.
5. Rules. I will follow Gracewood's posted rules and policies (gracewoodacres.com policies), including: an ASTM/SEI helmet on every ride, boots and long pants, supervision of minors, gates closed, no feeding others' horses, dogs leashed, no alcohol or smoking. Gracewood may remove anyone who does not comply.
6. Medical. I authorize Gracewood to obtain emergency medical care for me or my minor at my expense. I confirm I/my minor have no condition that makes equine activity unsafe, or I have disclosed it below.
7. Photos. Gracewood may photograph and film activities and use the images for its website and social media without compensation. You may opt out below — this changes nothing about how you are treated.
8. Term. This release is effective for one year from signature and applies to every visit in that time. Tennessee law governs; venue is Greene County, Tennessee. If a part is unenforceable, the rest stands.
9. Electronic signature. I agree that signing this form electronically has the same effect as signing on paper (Tennessee Uniform Electronic Transactions Act, T.C.A. § 47-10-101 et seq.).
